We have our own Charter of Healthcare Rights. It is our commitment to you, and it is based on the Australian Charter of Healthcare Rights.
This charter sets out what you can expect from us as your dental team, and how we can work together to keep your care safe, respectful, and effective.
We will make every effort to help you book appointments that meet your treatment needs. If you ever need to cancel or reschedule, we really appreciate you letting us know as early as possible so we can offer that time to another patient.
If our reception team cannot find a suitable time, you can ask to be placed on our short‑notice list, or you can request that the receptionist speak directly with the dentist to see whether we can fit you in sooner.
Keeping you safe is essential. Please complete our medical history form and bring an up‑to‑date list of your medications to each visit so we can keep accurate records.
If something ever goes wrong, we are linked with a network of trusted specialists and will help you access the professional care you need. Our primary concern is your health and wellbeing, and we will be honest in our communication as we work with you to resolve or manage the situation.
We follow the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care’s Open Disclosure Framework.
Our practice values each person as an individual. We welcome your questions and encourage open communication.
Treatment planning and decision‑making are shared processes. We want to work with you to plan care that supports your oral health and your wider goals, such as comfort, appearance, and budget.
We are happy to share the knowledge and experience we have gained. If we can explain something in a clearer way, please tell us.
We will:
We also value the chance to help you find reliable health information, so you can make well‑informed choices about your care.
You have the right to be treated with dignity, respect, and consideration at all times.
We respect your culture, beliefs, background, and personal preferences. We aim to create a welcoming, judgement‑free environment where you feel comfortable sharing your questions or concerns.
All health information we hold about you is private and confidential, and we take this responsibility very seriously.
You have the right to:
We will always be happy to assist with these requests.
Your feedback is valuable and helps us improve. We take comments, suggestions, and complaints seriously and use them to make our practice better.
You can:
If you ever make a complaint, we have a clear complaint‑management process and we commit to acknowledging and responding within a reasonable time. If you feel we have not responded appropriately, you can put your concerns in writing to the principal dentist so we can review the matter in more detail.
The Australian Charter of Healthcare Rights sets out the rights of all people using the Australian health system and supports high‑quality, safe care. It was developed by the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care and was endorsed by all state and territory health ministers.
The Charter recognises that both people receiving care and people providing care have important roles. By sharing a clear understanding of healthcare rights, patients, families, carers, and health services can work together towards better outcomes.
The Charter is also available in many languages. You can view translated versions through the Commission’s Australian Charter translations page.
We have included this Charter on our website because we want you to know your rights and to feel confident that your care at our practice reflects these standards.
